Back to Our Roots: Being The Church of the Bible
A Call to Action: Prioritizing Christ’s Great Commission
Do you have a sense of urgency?
Its great being an American and especially being a Christian in America. We have the highest standard of living in the world, a First Amendment right to practice our faith as we determine and practically no threat to our daily or even long-term existence. Overwhelmingly, for Americans life is good. So why change?
For Christians in America, we enjoy the grace and freedom to worship G-d as we see fit. And we exercise grace with how we worship our Heavenly Father. With every passing day, fewer and fewer Christians regularly attend the Sunday morning church services – practically the only time we “openly” exercise our faith. Subsequently, Christians do not and for a long time have not fulfilled the Great Commission. With a more hostile, anti-Christian culture rising in our country, the Church continues to disappear from public view and existence. So why change?
Unless the current trend in American Christianity changes, within two generations some regions of our country especially in the northeast will not have any evangelical churches to attend. This trend will eventually cross the country. There will simply be no interest. “Church” will be online,
in a few homes or even underground as our nation increasingly sees Christianity as a “threat to democracy”. So why change?
We must change not because our nation is in desperate trouble, but because we are not biblical as the Church. We do not disciple as commanded by Jesus. We are not witnesses as Jesus commanded and He and his disciples modeled. Why not?
Long ago, the Christian Church born out of poverty and persecution became popular and powerful. Even with the Reformation the Church became culturally dominate. Gone was the emphasis on being G-d’s servants and our biblical missional existence and focus. We became comfortable. But times changed. Today, the Church is not popular or powerful. We have become happily complacent with a Sunday morning church service type of Christian life and avoid anything challenging that existence. And the Gospel of Jesus Christ suffers, our family, friends, neighbors and acquaintances never hear the Good News of salvation only found in Jesus Christ. They will end their lives oblivious to the judgement awaiting them. That is why we MUST change and why Being the Church exists.
Being the Church is a Christian ministry developing biblical methodologies to make disciples who make disciples in a 21st Century world. We have developed and practice Six Pillars of Christian Discipleship to more easily and effectively disciple in a complex and rapidly changing society. Accepting that America and especially the north east is becoming more post-Christian or more accurately post-Christendom Being the Church is dedicated to reforming the traditional church into her biblically defined disciple-making, G-d and people loving (in action) Bride of Christ. And don’t forget, “the Church has left the building!”
Whatever Happened to the Biblical Church?
Seeking an Authentic New Testament Christian Life
Christianity, once the dominant element of our culture is dying. Pastors are leaving their pulpits in droves. Churches are closing or see declining attendance. More and more people have little to no interest in attending church services even on Easter and Christmas! This decline is especially noticeable in the part of America where the Gospel first arrived—the northeast! Why is this happening, and can anything be done to reverse these critical trends?
